Tribal Agriculture Fellowship

What is the Tribal Agriculture Fellowship?

The Tribal Agriculture Fellowship (TAF) will award fellowships to Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students pursuing technical, undergraduate, and graduate degrees in agriculture with the goal of strengthening the flow of Indigenous professionals into tribal agriculture. The Fellowships include scholarship funding for the pursuit of career, technical and educational certificate and degree programs. TAF will be managed by the Native Agriculture Education Fellowship Program (NAEFP), a nonprofit organization supported by – but separate from – the Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF).

The mission of TAF is to perpetuate cohorts of Indigenous professionals committed to careers in agriculture, as broadly defined. TAF believes that for Tribal agriculture to thrive, a strong network of community engaged agriculture professionals at every level must emerge. Specialized knowledge about Tribal land bases, governance frameworks and cultural agriculture practices are crucial to the success of Native agriculture. TAF will develop community leaders that are well-educated and well-connected while remaining fully culturally competent.

More to Come in 2022

Applications for the first cohort of fellows will open in early 2022. Rising and current technical, undergraduate, and graduate students are eligible to apply.
