The Native American Financial Services’ (NAFS) Indian Country Agricultural Bankruptcy and Credit Education provides a specialized focus on empowering farmers, ranchers, agricultural businesses, and Tribal governments with knowledge about bankruptcy, debt mitigation, and credit management. Through a series of expert-led webinars and an in-person session, this initiative addresses the critical need for accessible, culturally-relevant education on navigating financial crises, legal options, and the interaction between the federal bankruptcy code and Tribal sovereignty. By providing tailored, archived resources, and direct access to legal and financial expertise, the project uniquely supports producers in rural and Tribal settings, helping them mitigate risk, protect assets, and become more attractive candidates for loan capital. This work directly advances NAAF’s mission by building financial literacy and fiscal resilience, thereby increasing producers’ access to capital and supporting the sustainability of Indian Country agriculture.
