Maria Wakan

Grants Manager

Maria Wakan, a member of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribes, serves as NAAF’s Grants Manager.

Ms. Wakan has years of experience working with Federal, Tribal, State and regional governments to improve Indian Country. She spent over a decade working for Kauffman & Associates, Inc, an American Indian-and woman owned management consulting firm. While there, she orchestrated logistics for national outreach campaigns for various Federal and private partners in public health, education and economic development. Ms. Wakan brings her skills in logistics management and administration to NAAF where she will be coordinating meeting events and assist in grant management and communications.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, the Green Bay Packers and most importantly, traveling to Seattle to visit her daughter who recently graduated college from the University of Washington.
