Choctaw and Apache descent Communications Intern
Mackenize Martinez is a native of Zwolle, Louisiana, and a tribal member of Choctaw and Apache descent. She is a senior at McNeese State University, where she is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Sciences with a concentration in Animal Science.
Mackenize has experience with youth-led food sovereignty movements and working with various nonprofit organizations aimed at serving Native American farmers and ranchers. She currently serves as Vice President and Eastern Region Representative for the Native Youth Food Sovereignty Alliance and is on the youth advisory board for the Intertribal Agriculture Council.
Earlier this spring, Mackenize completed an internship in Washington, DC, with the United States House of Representatives Agriculture Committee, where she served as a Fellow for Native American Agriculture Fund. (NAAF)
