Assistant to the CEO

The Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) is searching for an assistant to the CEO to join our organization. NAAF is the largest U.S. philanthropic organization focused exclusively on the needs of Native American farmers and ranchers. This position requires someone who has a proactive personality and engaging team player style with a passion for and commitment to the mission and core values of NAAF.  

The assistant to the CEO role is a highly skilled position requiring someone who is well organized, able to exercise independent decision-making responsibility, and adept at working alongside and providing supportive staffing services to the NAAF CEO.  This position must be filled by someone with experience in dynamic, fast-paced and complex work environments. The assistant to the CEO reports directly to the CEO. This position may also on a regular basis support an office-wide initiative or assist finance, communications, and compliance departments with a special project.

Required Competencies and Skills

    • Advanced knowledge of computer and technology applications and advanced office organizational skills as demonstrated by prior job duties
    • Ability to be detail-oriented and deadline-oriented is required
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work with moderate supervision
    • Strong collaborative skills in a diverse and inclusive working environment
    • Ability to be flexible and function well in a fast-paced office
    • Eagerness to support the CEO and governing body of the organization
    • Periodic multi-day travel is required

Responsibilities/Duties

    • Interfaces with NAAF CEO and senior management on a regular basis
    • Maintains records and receipts
    • Drafts routine correspondence
    • Maintains the CEO’s calendar and contacts
    • Handles travel arrangements and maintains expense reports
    • Assists in research
    • Assists with special meetings and special event planning
      • Coordinates flight options, hotel arrangements and meeting logistics
      • Identifies initial meeting technical support requirements and coordinates on site needs
      • Facilitates transportation needs
      • Creates itinerary/agenda
      • Prepares briefing materials
      • Maintains and manages technology and software system resources
    • Organizes training opportunities as needed
    • Undertakes special projects as assigned
    • Assists in resolving relevant technology systems issues as needed.

College degree and 2-4 years of professional experience preferred.

      • We use this system for grant-making as well, so some of the questions serve dual purposes.
        • Enter your full legal name for Organization Name.
        • Enter “00-0000000” for EIN.
          • Disregard the warning that says that number is already in use.
        • Enter “Assistant to CEO” for Business Title.
        • Select “Yes” for Organization Signing Authority.

3. From the Applicant Dashboard, click “Apply” in the top left area of the page.

4. Enter the code “Careers” in the top right area of the page. Click the blue “Apply” button to start your application for Executive Director.

5. Be sure to click the blue “Submit” button to send your application to NAAF for review.
