Communications & Public Relations Summer Internship

The Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) – a private charitable trust providing support for business assistance, agricultural education, technical support and advocacy services to Native farmers and ranchers – seeks a full-time communications and public relations intern for Summer 2020. The position includes:

  • Researching grantee organizations and projects
  • Writing feature stories on grantee projects
  • Developing pictures, videos and graphics to support grantee profiles
  • Coordinating with grantee points of content to promote stories
  • Preparing content to be shared with local, regional and national news organizations
  • Drafting content for the NAAF website, social media accounts and publications
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current student enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Must have experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or related fields
  • Preference for students with experience in Native agriculture, including farming, ranching, fishing, foraging, traditional foods, natural resources management, and more

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and manage time effectively
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated that works well individually as well as collaboratively
  • Task oriented with a high attention to detail
  • Strong and professional communication skills (written and verbal)

Working Conditions:

  • This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and based in Fayetteville, AR for Summer 2020
  • Start and end dates are flexible depending on the student’s school schedule with a duration of ~12 weeks
  • Competitive pay and support for temporary relocation if needed
  • Intern will report to NAAF staff
